Dear Parents;

I will  like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. The addition booklets will be use for homework. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Also, I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call again to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. Zoom lessons May 5th at 11:30 AM, 6th 11:00 AM, 7th, at 11:30 AM, 7th at 11:30 AM, and May 8 at 11:00 AM. I will called a group of parents for tomorrow's conference. The ID# is 764-301-9104. The children have been divide into four groups. I will let you know your child's group, and when to log into Zoom.

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse

  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Monday , May 4, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

Belonging to God

Aim: To deepen your child's growing appreciation of belonging to God.

Vocabulary Words: belong, special, appreciate, love, cross, happy

Strategies:
  • First comment on the ways your have grown since they first came to school in the fall.
  • Have your child compare their baby pictures with them now.
  • Invite your child to tell one thing they can do now that they were not able to do when he started school in the fall.
  • Affirm their contribution by commenting, "How special you are ______. You are God's child.
  • Then explain to your child that we belong to God because he created us, loves, cares for us, and gave us everything we need. Examples: our families; food, air, land, water, plants, animals. a place to live.

Reading:

Aim: The children will learn to recognize the sound /w/ in initial position.

Vocabulary Words: way, we, water, weeds, watch

Strategies:
  • I will introduce the lesson with " Hello Carrie Letter W": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPtsw42E4gM.""
  • Then ask your child to name the words with initial sound /w/ as in wagon.
  • Then have your child use the words. Example: I have a wagon.
  • Then I will display uppercase W and lowercase w, I will explain that its stands for the same initial sound as wagon.
  • I will have the children identify words with initial sound /w/.

Math:


Exploring Measurement

Aim: The children will explore the concept of length.

Vocabulary Words: longer, shorter, length, measure

Strategies:
  • First display a variety of objects that have different length, such as a ribbon, and eraser, a piece of paper, crayons, and a book.
  • Then  explain to your child that we are going learn about length (long and short).
  • Have the children describe the shapes of these objects.
  • Then explain to you child that when we can find the length of something by find out how long it is.
  • Then discuss ways we can measure to find out how long it is. (using our hands, beans, paper clips, snap cubes, strings, or any other objects.)
  • Then demonstrate measuring objects using a piece of string.
  • Then  show that the beginning of the string  must be held at the edge of the object.
  • Then demonstrate to your child how to extend the string in a straight line across the object.
  • Then encourage the children to use string to measure various classroom objects and compare the different length.
  • Then ask: What are you doing? Where do start measure measuring the object? Which object is the longest? Which object is the shortest? How do you know?
  • Finally, repeat activity with different classroom object.

Social Studies:


 Aim:The children will learn to obtain information about a topic using a variety of visual source.

Vocabulary Words: recycle, resource, conserve

Strategies:

  • Then read the tittle of of the poem "I'm Glad the Sky is Painted Blue."
  • Then tell your that the poem describes what the writer likes about Earth.
  • then ask your child to look a the art and name things the writer might like.
  • Then I will remind the children that poems often has rhyming words. Then I will explain that some poems also use words in special ways to help create pictures in a reader's mind.
  • I will invite your child to listen as you read the poem. Have them listen for special ways  the writer uses the words to help readers picture Earth.
  • Then I will ask the following questions: What does the writer means by saying "I am glad the sky is painted blue"?  What does the writer says is painted green? The writer compares the sky, Earth and air to a sandwich. Why?

Story Time: Red Wagon by Renata Liwska

Aim: The children will learn to help with chores at home. 

Vocabulary Words: chores, wagon, hill, market, vegetables

Strategies:
  • First, tell your child that helping at home is part of families chore, and that when help with chores the family has more time to spend together.

  • Then ask your child: What did Lucy get? What Color was the wagon? What did her mom ask her to do? How did she feel about that? What happened on her way to the market? What did she do in the market? What happened when she was going back home? When she got home what did her mom say?  When she was allowed to play what happened to Lucy at the end of the story? Why?

Music: Bumping Up and Down in My Little Red Wagon

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
