9/26/16 to 9/30/16

Dear Parents,

School is closed this Wednesday, September 28th.  Reminder, A reminder to parents that up to date immunization records are due by the end of September. Alba will be calling parents in PreK-1.  The Health Department will be checking records some time in October, and they can request a child not return to school until all immunizations are up to date.

Remember, gym is EVERY TUESDAY.  Children must come to school dressed in their gym uniform. Have your children use the vocabulary words posted in the lesson plan.

Finally, when your child is absent, a note is required.

9/19/16 to 9/23/16

Dear Parents,

Lessons start immediately at 8:00 a.m.  Breakfast must be finished no later 7:55 a.m.  Parents must drop their children at the classroom door leave immediately, so the transition will be smoother.  All required paperwork was due LAST WEEK.

Reminder, gym is every Tuesday.  This means children must come to school dressed in gym uniform.

Family and baby pictures due Monday, September 19th.  Homework is given everyday.  Pages will be marked indicating the homework for the day.  Use crayons for homework.  If you have not handed in all supplies, please hand them in this week.

9/12/16 to 9/16/16

Dear Parents,

Reminder, school supplies and school forms (i.e. emergency cards) should be in by Monday, September 12th.  Below is a list:


Supplies (Please have everything labeled with your child’s name)
1. 3 plastic folders
2. 1 Pre-K notebook
3. 1 coloring book
4. 1 child’s baby picture and 1 family picture
5. A change of clothes
6. Clorox wipes
7. Baby wipes
8. A roll of paper towel
9. A can of Lysol Spray
10. 2 reams of printer/copy paper
11. 2 Glue Sticks
12. Box of tissues
13. Box of triangular crayons
14. Small bottle of Clorox
15. 1 ream of construction paper
16. Hand sanitizer

Early dismissal this Friday, September 16th.  School will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m.  There will be after school program that day. 

Gym will be every Tuesday.  Children must come to school already dressed in their gym clothes.

Children should not come in with their breakfast later than 7:45 a.m.  Clean-up is at 7:55 a.m., and lessons begin at 8:00 a.m.  If you come in after 7:45 a.m., you may feed your child breakfast in the school auditorium.  

Parents are not allowed into the classroom.  Please drop them off and leave so your child may adjust faster.  Regular dismissal is at 3:00 p.m. -- NOT 2:30 p.m.  Children will be bringing home homework everyday this week.

9/5/2016 Opening Letter and Supplies to Parents

Dear Parents,

     I am delighted to welcome you and your child to our Preschool Program. Let's work together to make this a joyous growing experience for your child.

    Our program is designed to develop awareness and nurturing of each child's precious spirit. Our program recognizes that our Pre-K students are eager learners even though their social, fine and gross motor skills, language and cognitive abilities are not fully developed.

     This program is designed to meet the individual needs of the early learner and teach children how to share, socialize and function in a group. The group lays the foundation of faith and guides the children in daily prayer and academic activities designed to prepare them for Pre-K second level.

    A typical Pre-K day entails:

  • Opening exercises (Welcome prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, calendar and weather)
  • Religion (lessons via circle time)
  • Math (positions and classifications, comparisons and patterns, number readiness and graphing, numbers 0-20, adding and subtracting, fractions, measurements, geometry)
  • Reading/Language (rhymes, little books, big books, oral language development, phonetic awareness activities, auditory discrimination and listening skills, visual discrimination, knowledge of the alphabet, development of writing activities, beginning print and book concepts, comprehension skills, learning center activities)
  • Science (life science, earth science, physical and body awareness)
  • Social Studies
  • Story time (theme of the week)
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Nap
  • Bathroom
  • Center time

Reminder

1. Bring your child to school on time (after 8:00 am your child needs a late pass);
2. Bring absent note if your child is absent (IT’ S A MUST!) It is required by the Department of Education;
3. Read calendar carefully for early dismissals;
4. Send your child’s supplies on time;
5. Bring Emergency cards on time;
6. Send homework on time;
7. If you want to throw a birthday party in the lunchroom, please inform me at least two weeks before the party date;
8. If you need to talk to me about your child’s progress, you must see make an appointment;
9. Please, no outside toys and blankets allowed;
10. Read to your child every night (15 minutes);
11. Label everything your child brings to class;
12. Your child must wear a gym t-shirt and jogging pants on gym days (Gym day TBD);
13. Children should have breakfast every day before 7:45am;
14. No glass or plastic bottles allowed; juice should be in a juice box or the aluminum packaging;
15. Full uniform required every day except gym day;
16. Shoes should have velcro;
17. No belts for boys; make sure pants fit properly.
