Dear Parents;

I will  like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Also, I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call again to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. Zoom lesson on May 12, at 11:30 AM, May 14th, at 11:00 AM, and May 15th, at 11:30 AM The children were divide into four groups. I will let you know your child's group, and when to log into Zoom.

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse

  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Tuesday , May 12, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

Aim: The children will learn to recognize their uniqueness  and become aware of all the wonderful things they can do.

Vocabulary Words: unique, special, creation, different

Strategies:
  • First,  tell your child that in our our world are many wonderful things that God has made.
  • Then have your child describe one of these special creations.
  • Then ask your child to look into a mirror.
  • Then explain he/she is made wonderfully unique by God, and why he made all of us look different and unique. (We look different so that we can be recognize by our families and other people.)
  • Then tell your child to notice and say something like, "Nobody has a great smile like yours, _____."

  • Then I will ask the children to echo sing the song.
  • Then I will ask the children answer the following questions: What can you do now  that you were not able to do when you were a baby? Why did  God made you unique? What makes you special?

Reading:

Recalling Details

We Willie Winkie

Aim: The children will listen nursery rhymes and recalling details .

Vocabulary Words: fell, wall, together, egg

Strategies:
  • First,  tell your child how important it is to listen carefully as they are being read.
  • Then review the concepts of up and down by asking your child standing up and then sitting down.
  • Then tell them that you are going to read a called rhyme "We Willie Winkie.
  • Then have your child listen to the rhyme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlEv6JuLavs
  • Then ask: Who ran up and down the stairs? Why was he running up and down? What time of the day is it? 
  • Then point out that they could not have answered  the questions if they have not listed carefully, and that we learn many things by listening.
  • Then tell your child that your are going to play a describing game. Describe something in the room.
  • Then encourage the child to listen carefully to all of the little pieces of information I give.
  • Then give location, color, and its shape.
  • Then let your child guess what I am describing.
  • Then continue with the game with other objects.

Math:

Explore Capacity


Aim: Order two containers by capacity to determine which holds more and which holds less.

Vocabulary Words: more, less, capacity

Strategies:
  • First display two containers one tall and one short and wide.
  • Then ask ask: Which container holds more?
  • Then have your child pour  rice or oatmeal in the tall container, then pour rice or oatmeal  in low wide bowl.
  • Have the children determine which one holds more.

  • Then pause on specific pages to point out the relative size of each bowl of porridge.
  • Ask: What size of bowl are mentioned in the story?  For who is the large, the medium, and small  the size bowl were intended for? Which bowls hold more and which one holds less?
  • Then ask your child to tell to what bowl does the big, the medium, and large spoons they belong.
  • Have the children match spoons to the corresponding  bowl.
  • Ask: Why is the large spoon with large bowl? (It belongs to the big bear) Why is the medium spoon in the medium bowl? (It belongs to the medium size bear.) Why is the small spoon in the small bowl? (It belongs to the small bear.) What size bowl do you think you will use?


Homework: Draw two bowls and circle the one that hold more. (To be shown in Zoom)

Science:

Properties of objects

Aim: The children will learn to:
  • Describe the properties of different objects.
  • Explore the properties of solid, liquids, and gases.

Vocabulary Words:

Strategies:
  • Then I will help the children identify solids, liquids, and gas.

  • Then have your child give examples of solid, liquid, and gas.
  • Show your child a block, spoon, a toy, or shoe.
  • Ask: What can you tell me about it? How does it feel when you touch it? What shape it has? Do you think is heavy or light? What do you think will happen to the shape of this block if I drop it ?
  • Then I will ask the children to predict what would happen when you drop the  object on the floor.
  • Have the children touch  water in a glass and tell how it feels. Ask: Does it feel dry or wet or dry?
  • Then have he/she predict what would happen to the shape of the water when we pour a little on the table, and  describe what shape water has when it is poured on the table.
  • Then explain that water takes the shape of the glass when is in the glass or the shape of the object its poured in.
  • Next, blow air into the balloon.
  • Ask: What did I put into the balloon? How did the balloon‘s shape changed when I put air in the balloon? What do you feel when you squeeze the balloon? What do you think is moving around inside the balloon? What do you feel as I open the neck of the balloon?
  • Then I will guide the children in describing the results.
  • Ask: Which things is hard when and does not change its shape when is dropped?  (The block) Which is wet and and can be stirred and and poured and takes the shape of what is in?  (Water) Which thing cannot be seen but can be felt and can can make other things change their shape? (Air)
  • Summarize what we learned.


Story Time: I Like Myself  by Karen Beaumont
Aim: The children will learn to love themselves no matter how they look.

Vocabulary Words: same, different, fast, slow, mess, inside, outside

Strategies: 

  • First talk to your child and tell them how wonderfully made they are, and  that it doesn't matter how they look they are beautiful, and unique.Then tell your child that they are going to listen to a story about a little girl who like herself no matter how she look.

  • Then review the story with your child.
  • Then ask: What did the little girl think of herself? What did she like about herself? What do you like about yourself?

  • Have your child draw or color.

  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
