Dear Parents,

Mrs. Claus and Santa's Elves will be in school on Tuesday, December 18th to see the children.

Christmas Lessons and Carols will take place on Wednesday, December 19th at 8:30 a.m. in Church. Parents are invited. Children must come dressed up in the following: Girls - red dress or red skirt with a red top; Boys - Khaki pants, green turtleneck, sweater, or shirt. NO SNEAKERS.

Class party after mass. Please bring in $5 for the part.

Christmas break begins at dismissal on Wednesday, December 19th. Class resumes on Tuesday, January 3, 2019.

Dear Parents,

On Monday, November 19th, the school will celebrate of Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse.  Students may dress up in a Mickey Mouse/Minnie Mouse outfit instead of their uniform today. There will be NO contest held this year.

Parent-teacher conferences on Tuesday, November 20th between 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Dismissal on Tuesday for ALL students is at 12:00 noon. After School Program in Session. My conferences will be held in my classroom.

The Food Drive ends on Wednesday, November 21st. The canned foods and turkeys will be delivered by the Confirmation Class to St. Patrick's Home outreach program in the Bronx. The class with the largest amount of collected cans will have a pizza party so far K-1 is in the lead as of Friday.

All health forms are due by December 10th so that they may be loaded into the New York State Immunization Report. Students who are missing the health forms and immunizations may be restricted from class by the NYSDOH (New York State Department of Health).

Dear Parents,

Parents' signature pages and emergency cards are due this week. For birthday parties, please inform me at least 2 days in advance.  Birthday parties take place in the lunchroom during lunchtime.  Lunch period for Pre-K has been changed to 11:15 a.m. and ending at noon. Immunization policy requires your child's immunizations are up to date. Please review your child's records with your pediatrician. Afterschool program begins Monday, September 9th.

Please label everything with your child's name, including food containers.  Also, please have lunch and snack in separate containers appropriately labeled.  Finally, please bring in the supplies requested.

2018-2019 Opening Letter and School Supplies List

Dear Parents,

     I am delighted to welcome you and your child to our Preschool Program. Let's work together to make this a joyous growing experience for your child. 

    Our program is designed to develop awareness and nurturing of each child's precious spirit. Our program recognizes that our Pre-K students are eager learners even though their social, fine and gross motor skills, language and cognitive abilities are not fully developed. This program is also designed to meet the individual needs of the early learner and teach children how to share, socialize and function in a group. The group lays the foundation of faith and guides the children in daily prayer and academic activities designed to prepare them for Pre-K second level.

    A typical Pre-K day entails:
  • Opening exercises (Welcome prayer, Pledge of Allegiance, calendar and weather)
  • Religion (lessons via circle time)
  • Restroom Break
  • Reading/Language (rhymes, little books, big books, oral language development, phonetic awareness activities, auditory discrimination and listening skills, visual discrimination, knowledge of the alphabet, development of writing activities, beginning print and book concepts, comprehension skills, learning center activities)
  • Math (positions and classifications, comparisons and patterns, number readiness and graphing, numbers 0-20, adding and subtracting, fractions, measurements, geometry)
  • Story time (theme of the week)/Arts and Crafts
  • Music
  • Restroom Break
  • Nap
  • Snack (No glass bottles, only box juice and no chips)
  • Circle Time: Science or Social Studies
  • Playtime
Supplies (Please have everything labeled with your child’s name)

Reminder

1.             Bring your child to school on time (after 8:00 am your child needs a late pass);
2.             Bring absent note if your child is absent (IT’ S A MUST!) It is required by the Department of Education;
3.             Read calendar carefully for early dismissals;
4.             Send your child’s supplies on time;
5.             Bring Emergency cards on time;
6.             Send homework on time;
7.             If you want to throw a birthday party in the lunchroom, please inform me at least two weeks before the party date;
8.             If you need to talk to me about your child’s progress, you must see make an appointment;
9.             Please, no outside toys and blankets allowed;
10.         Read to your child every night (15 minutes);
11.         Label everything your child brings to class;
12.         Your child must wear a gym t-shirt and jogging pants on gym days (Gym day TBD);
13.         Children should have breakfast every day before 7:45am;
14.         No glass or plastic bottles allowed; juice should be in a juice box or the aluminum packaging;
15.         Full uniform required every day except gym day;
16.         Shoes should have Velcro;
17.         No belts for boys; make sure pants fit properly.

Thank You

Dear Parents,

Reminder, Our Moving Up Ceremony will be on Wednesday, June 20th at 10:00 AM.  Children should be in the classroom no later than 8:00 a.m. already dressed up.  Girls must wear a nice cotton dress, with shoes or sandals.  Boys must wear navy blue Bermuda shorts and short-sleeved collared shirt (any color). Three people per child may attend the ceremony.  This is the last day of school and after-school program.

Finally, the aides and I would like to thank you for entrusting your children with us and for choosing a Catholic School education.  We loved working with the children, watching them grow and be intrigued by the world around them.  We know we laid a strong foundation of learning and faith to follow them in the years to come. 

We hope you and your family have a wonderful summer!

Dear Parents,

Noon dismissal for Monday, May 21st.  Parents are urged to attend Transiting to Kindergarten Workshop in library this Tuesday, May 22nd. NYCDOE Annette Pastor will be conducting workshop.

School is closed this Friday, May 25th and Monday, May 28th for Memorial Day weekend.

PreK Summer Program enrollment is closed. We have reached the targeted enrollment for the Summer Program.

Mrs. Campos, Sophie's mother, will be giving a lesson on Tuesday on dental hygiene. She is a pediatric dentist.  She will provide toothpaste and toothbrushes for every child.

I would like to thank Mrs. Song, Oliver's mom, for the Science lesson she gave to the students.

Dear Parents,

School is closed on Thursday, March 22nd for Active Shooter Training. Passion Play in Church on Friday, March 23rd at 8:30 AM. Parents are welcome. Children may come dressed up on Friday. Our class' Easter Party is on Friday after the Passion Play for the children only. Please bring in $5 for the party.

Please bring back your child's mat tomorrow to be sent to wash. Children will bring home a homework package to do over the Easter break.  Have a safe and wonderful Easter break!

Noon dismissal on Monday, March 12th.  Green Day is this Friday, March 16th. Students are allowed to come to school is play clothes if they wear green.  Progress reports will be sent home Friday.

Fun with Feelings Workshop on Monday, February 26, 2018 8:15 a.m. in the library for PreK parents. Also, early dismissal Monday, February 26, 2018.

Dr. Seuss' Birthday is Friday March 2, 2018.  There will be a costume contest at 1:00 p.m. for the best Dr. Seuss character costume.

Please bring Clorox wipes.  Also make sure you check your child's cubby and see if your child has extra clothes.

Finally, every Friday is Stations of the Cross at 11:00 a.m. in Church. Parents are always invited.
