Dear Parents;

I will  like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. Please bring shopping bags for the booklets. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Also, I would like parents to know that I have been making phone calls to see how your children and members are doing, also to help you with your concerns about your child. Zoom lesson on May 19th at 11:30 AM, May 21st at 11:00 AM, and 22nd at 11:00 AM The children were divide into four groups. I will let you know your child's group, and when to log into Zoom.

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse


  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Monday May 18th, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

Religion:

Religion

Fox Walked Alone

Aim:The children will learn why Noah placed animals in his ark.

Vocabulary Words: flood, ark, pair

Strategies:
  • First, tell your child that he is going to listen to a story about how  some animals were saved from a flood.
  • Then review book parts, and story elements.
  • Then have your child listen to  "Fox Walked Alone":  
  • Then we will review the story.
  • Then ask your child: Who are the characters of the story? Where were the animals walking to? Who was walking alone? what happened to the fox at the end of the story? Why did the animals gather together for? Do you think it was right for them to gather in the ark? Why? Would you listen to God's call? Why?
  • Summarize what he/she learned.


Reading

Rhymes

Aim: The children will learn to:
  • Recognize words that rhyme.
  • Match them.

Vocabulary Words:nest, rest, ground, sound, fly, shy, my high, sight, out, pout, eat , tweet, sing, wing, lead, indeed

Strategies:
  • First I will ask the children where do come from. 
  • Then I will tell the children that they are going to hear a story about chicks and how they learn to fly.
  • Then remind your child that rhyming words have the same sound at the end of the word.
  • Then I will give examples of rhyming words, such as sing-wing.
  • Then we will ask the children to listen to the rhyme "Five little Bird" :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIYWT6VkCKI
  • Then I will read stop to ask if the two words mentioned rhyme, if they words rhyme have your child if they clap, and if it doesn't rhyme tap your head.
  • Then continue listening to the rhyme and ask if the words I give are rhyming words.
  • Then review the rhyme.
  • Then I will ask the children: Who are the characters in the story? How many birds were there? What was the problem? How was the problem solved?

  • Finally, summarize what your child has learned.


Homework: Have your child write H h, I i, J j 3X each in the Notebook, and show when we Zoom.


Math

Aim: Explore and compare the weight of classroom objects; determine which objects weigh more, less, or about the same.

Vocabulary Words: heavier, lighter, weight, scale

  • First, show your child a scale and explain what are they use for.( weigh food, themselves, and other objects.
  • Then I will ask them where have they been weight before. (doctor's office)
  • Then show them different kinds of scales.
  • I tell your child that he/she is going to make a scale out of a milk carton, or cups and rubber band, or string, and a hanger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Prz7n8cD9Q
  • Then I will hang the scale from a rule from a ruler secure by a stack of books.
  • Then I ask your child to select two items to weight on the scale.
  • Then I will have your child compare the their weight.
  • Ask: Which item is heavier and which is lighter? How can you tell which item is heavier? What object in the room do you think is lighter than your heavier item?
  • Repeat activity with other objects.


Science

How Animals Move 

Aim: The children will identify different ways animals move.

Vocabulary Words: fly, run, trot, swim, slider

Strategies:
  • Ask the children if they have ever seen a frog.
  • Invite volunteers to show how a frog moves.
  • Then repeat by having your child move like snake.
  • Then will explain that  they will explore ways that other animals move.
  • Guide oral vocabulary development by asking these questions: Which picture shows an animal swimming? (Fish) How does the horse moves? (runs, trots) What body part helps a bird fly? (Wings) How is the kangaroo moving? (Hopping)
  • then have your child watch "Watch these Baby Animals Move": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzmcNlftNxs
  • Discuss body part animals use in order to move.
  • Have the children compare how fast or slow these animals move.
  • Ask: What body part do bird use to move? What body part do fish use to move? What body part does a Cheetahs uses to move? What body part do you use to move?

Story Time: I Don't Want to Be a Frog by Dev Petty

Aim: The children will learn about a little frog who did not like being a frog.

Vocabulary Words: slimy, wet, bugs, garbage, fly, wise, hop

Strategies:
  • First ask your child what does he knows anything about frogs.
  • Then tell your child that he is going to listen to a story about a frog who didn't want to be frog.

  • Then review the story.
  • Then ask: Who are the character? What was the problem? What made him change frog's mind? What did the frog learned from his experience?
Suggestions:

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, puzzles, exercise, or meditate.
