Dear Parents;

I will  like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. Please bring shopping bags for the booklets. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Also, I would like parents to know that I have been making phone calls to see how your children and members are doing, also to help you with your concerns about your child.

Lessons for May 20, 2020

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse


  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Wednesday May 20, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.

Religion

Trusting Others

Aim: The children will learn to appreciate that people who loves us and takes care of us wants good things for us.

Vocabulary Words: care, help, love

Strategies:
  • Firs, show your child different pictures of their family.
  • Then   tell your child that we need to take care of our families.
  • Then I will ask: What are some of the things we that need to be done to take care of them? What happens when you don’t take care of our families?
  • Then tell them that stay safe is one of the most important job a family has.
  • Then ask: How many member we have in our family? What activities they like to do as a family? Why?
  • Then tell them that families have many different jobs, such as taking taking them to the doctor, buying food for them, dressing them, and making sure they are safe.
  • Then have your child show ways the appreciate what family member do for them.
  • Finally have your child draw a picture of their family.

Reading

Comparisons

Aim: The children will compare Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Bears.

Vocabulary Words: safe, love, care, curious, locked, unlocked, stranger

Strategies:
  • First, tell your child that he is going to listen to "Little Red Ridding Hood" 
  • Then your child to listen carefully because we are going to compare the stories.
  • First have your child listen to "Little Red Ridding Hood: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ac3FUfUYAs0
  • Then review the story with your.
  • Then l ask: Who are the characters? What was the problem in the story? What caused the problem? How was it solved? Do you think Ridding Hood will ever talk to a stranger? Why not? Do you think grandma will ever leave her door open?
  • Then review the story of "The Three Bear."
  • Then I will ask: Who were the characters? What was the problem in the story? What caused the problem? How was it solved? Do you think the bears will ever leave their door open? Why not?
  • Then  discuss how in both stories leaving the door open was the cause of the problems.
  • Then I will ask: What caused the problem in both stories? What would you have done if you were one of the bears from "The Three Bears" or grandma on the story "Little Red Ridding Hood" story?
  • Then  discuss rules they should follow at home, such as having the adults open the door.


Math

Aim: Explore and compare the weight of classroom objects; determine which objects weigh more, less, or about the same.

Vocabulary Words: heavier, lighter, weight, scale

  • First, show your child a scale and explain what are they use for.( weigh food, themselves, and other objects.
  • Then I will ask them where have they been weight before. (doctor's office)
  • Then show them different kinds of scales.
  • Have your child use the homemade scale.
  • Then I ask your child to select two items to weight on the scale.
  • Then I will have your child compare the their weight.
  • Ask: Which item is heavier and which is lighter? How can you tell which item is heavier? What object in the room do you think is lighter than your heavier item
  • Repeat activity with other objects.



Story Time: Respect/ Word on Sesame Street

Aim: The children will learn how we should treat each other.

Vocabulary Words: respect, care, fair, important, rules
  • First, talk to your child about how we should treat people.
  • Then introduce the word respect.
  • Then ask your child how he likes to be treated.
  • Then tell your child that he is going to listen to a story about "Respect": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOzrAK4gOSo
  • Then review what they learned from the video.
  • Then ask: What is the video about? How should we treat people? How do you think the violinist felt when the phone answer the call? How would you feel if people did not respect you? Who should you respect?
Suggestions:

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, puzzles, exercise, or meditate.
