Dear Parents;

I would like to thank the parents and children for all your prayers and support during my husband illness. I was very tough, however he is dong very well, and will be out of the hospital this week.

Tomorrow I will begin making phone calls to see how you and tour child are doing, also to help you with your concerns about your child. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Zoom Lessons will begin. Tuesday at 11:30 AM, Wednesday 11:30, Thursday 2:00 PM, and on Friday at 11:00.

Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. Please bring shopping bags for the booklets. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse


Strategies:
  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Thursday May 28, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.

Religion

Story of Mary

Vocabulary Words: mother, angel,  appeared

Strategies: 
  • First I will tell the children that tomorrow we celebrate The May Procession.
  • Then I will explain that this is the reason we also celebrate Mother's Day in May.
  • Then I will tell your child that he/she is going to watch a video about Mary.
  • Then I will tell your child to listen carefully because he/she are going to answer some questions.

  • Then I will ask: Who was Marry? What kind of girl was Mary?  Who did Marry married? What did Joseph work as? What did the angel Gabriel told Marry? What did the angel told her to name Him? What kind of person you think Marry was?
  • Summarize what we learned.


Reading

Aim: The children will listen and talk about The Cake That Mack Ate.

Vocabulary Words: seed, egg, hen, corn, farmer, cake

Strategies:
  • I will discuss books and stories that are fun to read, such as Humpty Dumpty.
  • Then describe the story they will hear.

  • Then ask your child: What do you think the story will be about?
  • Then have your child listen to the story aloud.
  • Then  discuss story with your child.
  • Ask: What kind of cake is this?  What are they going to celebrate in the story? What happened to the cake? What lesson did Mack learned?
  • Then we will review rhyming words. (cake-ate)
  • Then the children will identify rhyming words in the story.


Math

Exploring Patterns

Aim:The children will learn to copy and extend a size pattern.

Vocabulary Words: extend, size, pattern, small, big

Strategies:
  • First display two sizes of an item, such as large and small book.
  • Hold one book in each hand.
  • Have your child  say large or small as I lift one book at a time.
  • Then repeat activity repeat with other objects.
  • Then I will model a size pattern on the chalkboard by taping up sheets of paper as follow: large/small, large/small, large/small.
  • Then I will say the pattern aloud and have  children repeat after me.
  • I will have the children answer the following questions: What comes next? How can you describe a size pattern? How would you explain the pattern?

  • Finally, check for comprehension, and help your child if he/she is  not able to comprehend the pattern.

Story Time: 

Nightingale

Aim: The children will learn:
  • Participate in discussion
  • Listen and respond to stories read aloud
  • Understand story vocabulary
  • Listen for a purpose
  • Use pictures and prior knowledge
  • Understand characters
  • Determine important ideas

Vocabulary Words: nightingale, forest, emperor, palace, bird, sing

Strategies:
  • First talk to your child about birds s, such as they fly, they have wings, they most live on trees, and they hatch from eggs.
  • Then tell your child that they are going to listen to a story a bird who sings beautiful.
  • Then have your child listen to “The Nightingale."
  • Then I will help the children set a purpose for listening by telling the children to listen to find out what happens between the emperor and a nightingale.
  • Then I will ask: What they see in the picture? What do you think he does?
  • Tell the children the man is an emperor and he is like a king.
  • Then I will ask: What do you think a nightingale is? (a bird)  What did he do so well? (sing) Where did Nightingale lived? (forest) Who put her in a cage? How did Nightingale feel living in a cage?  How can you tell?  How did the emperor feel when nightingale left?  What did Nightingale do to help the emperor? how would you feel if you were in a place that you did not like? 
  • Finally, review the story with your child.

Homework: Write lowercase y in Handwriting Book

Suggestions:

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, puzzles, exercise, or meditate.
