Dear Parents;

I will  like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Also, I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call again to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. Zoom lesson on May 13, at 11:00 AM, May 14th, at 11:30 AM, and May 15th, at 11:00 AM The children were divide into four groups. I will let you know your child's group, and when to log into Zoom.


Lessons for May 13, 2020

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse

  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Wednesday  May 13, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

Religion:

Wonderful Me

Aim: The children will become aware of good personal health habits.

Vocabulary Words: exercise, healthy foods, rest, bath, brush teeth

Strategies:
  • First review  how God made them unique and wonderful, but it is up to us to take care of our bodies so they stay wonderful.
  • Then I will explain that we must get plenty of rest, keep our bodies clean by taking a baths, eat food that is good for us, and get exercise.

  • Then I will ask: What is the child doing? I will explain that eating healthy food is good for you and helps you grow.
  • Then discuss food that are healthy and unhealthy food and activities that are good for them.
  • Then ask: What is your favorite food? Is it good for you? Why? What is your favorite activity? Why?


Reading:

Cause and Effect


The Great Big Turnip


Aim: The children will learn to identify cause and effect.

Vocabulary words: cause, effect, pull, push

Strategies:
  • First, tell your your child that when we do something there an effect.
  • Then ask the children to listen carefully to find out how the turnip changes from the beginning of the story to the end story.
  • Then have your child vie The Enormous Turnip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysPxSHHE8Lg
  • Then  discuss the sequence of events in the story, by eliciting that the turnip was planted, grew very large, and was pulled out of the ground.
  • Then introduce the concept of cause and effect, by telling the children that one thing can make another thing happen.
  • Then  demonstrate the concept turning off the the light,or throw a ball up.
  • Then ask: What made the light go off , or the ball go up? What was the cause? What was the effect of that action?
  • Then push and pull a chair, or a car.
  • Then explain  that some stories tell about things that happened  and why they happened.
  • Then ask your child: What happened in the story? Why it happened?
  • I will ask: What did the man do? (cause) What happened to the plant? (It grew) What did the man, the woman, the boy, the girl, the dog, the cat, and the mouse do? (pulled and pulled together) What happened when the pulled? (The turnip came out) 
  • Then explain that pulling is the cause and come out is the effect.
  • Then I will ask the children to draw a line to to a picture on the right that best tells what happened to the turnip.
  • Summarize what he/she learned.

Homework: Write child's name 3 X in the notebook

Math:


Explore Capacity

Aim: The children order three containers by capacity to determine which holds the most and which holds the least.

Vocabulary Words: most, least, capacity

Strategies:
  • First, demonstrate filling a large, medium, and small container with water, rice, beans, or sand and   into the three different container. 
  • Then I will ask: Which container holds the most? Which container holds the least?
  • Then explain that the ability a container has to hold is called capacity.
  • Then repeat activity with different objects.
  • Then have your child determine which holds the most, and which hold the least.


Science:

The children will learn that liquids can be change by freezing or melting.

Vocabulary Words: melt, freeze, change, mix

Strategies:
  • I will review with the children that liquids change into a solid.
  • Then I will tell the children that we are going to make jello.
  • Then I will show the children the ingredients.
  • Then I will show which ingredients is solid and which is a liquid.
  • I will have the children add the ingredients on a bowl and tell if the ingredient is a solid or a liquid.
  • Then have volunteers mix the ingredients.
  • Then place it on pan and put it on the freezer until ready.
  • Then have the children answer: What happened to the liquid?


Zoom Homework: Draw three bowls and circle the one that holds more.

Suggestions:

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, puzzles, exercise, or meditate.
