Dear Parents;

I will  like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Also, I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call again to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. Zoom lesson on May 13, at 11:00 AM, May 14th, at 11:30 AM, and May 15th, at 11:00 AM The children were divide into four groups. I will let you know your child's group, and when to log into Zoom.


Lessons for May 14, 2020

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse

  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Thursday  May 14, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

Religion:

Singing and Dancing

Aim:The children will learn to appreciate that their singing voices are gift from God.

Vocabulary Words: singing, voices, sounds

Strategies:
  • First ask your child: What new songs have we learned this year? Why he is able to sing? Who do you think gave us our voices?

  • Then  ask your child to sing their favorite song with a microphone or an object that looks like a microphone.
  • Then explain that their voices is a gift of God.

Reading:

Comparing Sizes

Aim: The children will learn to recognize relative sizes: small, large, big

Vocabulary Words: small, large, little, big

Strategies:
  • First tell  your  child that he/she is going to listen to a video about an elephant and a mouse.
  • Then I will ask them to tell what they know about an elephant or a mouse.

  • Then  ask: Who is the big animal? Who is the small animal?

  • Then I will ask the children: Are the boxes the same size? (They are different sizes.) Which objects are big? Which objects are small? 

Homework: Write the letters A a, B b, C c, and D d 3 X each in the Notebook.


Math:
Explore Capacity

Aim: The children Order three or more containers by capacity to determine which holds the most and which holds the least.

Vocabulary Words: most, least, capacity

Strategies:
  • First review vocabulary words with your child.
  • Then demonstrate filling a small container with water, or juice and into three different container. 
  • Then I will ask: Which container holds the most? Which container holds the least?
  • Then print or have your child color or point to the container that hold the most yellow, and the container that hold the least green: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/490118371934060109/
  • Then I will ask the children: Which container do you think holds the most? (color yellow) Which holds the least? (color green)
  • Do the same with the rest of the rows.

Science:

Air 

Aim: To explore how air can be used to support heavy objects.

Vocabulary Words: air, lift, gas

Strategies:
  • First, tell your child that air is use for many thing (flying an airplane, hot air balloon, and turn on a fire. Even do we do not normally see it, air is all around us! Then I will will explain that even if we can not see it it takes up space and has weight. Air can do a great deal of work. When you ride a car, you really are riding on air. The tires are filled with air, air can be compress,  the greater the pressure, the greatest potential to lift things up, and its a gas.
  • Then  tell your child that you are going to investigate the power of air.
  • Then ask: What is air? How can we use air? Can air be use to lift things?
  • Then  ask your child to to assist in the demonstration.
  • Get a balloon and fill with air.(Do not tie the balloon, and do not have your child fill the balloon.)
  • Then have your child release the balloon.
  • Then I will explain why the balloon flew away because it was inflated, and the air inside was put under pressure.
  • Then  demonstrate how an air plane uses air to be lifted in the air.
  • Then distribute a straw, a sandwich bag, and an object.
  • Then assist your child placing the straw inside the sandwich bag. Then place the bag with the straw under the object. 
  • Then ask your child to blow through the straw.
  • Then ask: What happened? Why do you think it happened? 
  • Summarize was learned.

Story Time: The Mice and the Elephants

Aim:The children will learn about big and small, powerful and weak, and teaches never to under estimate anyone based on what they look like.

Vocabulary Words: big, small, mice, elephants, destroy, trap, hunters
  • First, tell your child we can not judge people for what they look or what size they are.
  • Then tell your your child that we should work with everyone even if some is a different size, or just look different.

  • The review the story.
  • Then ask: Who are the character? What was the problem? How was the problem solved? What would you do if some ask you for help? Does the size or how they look matters? Why not?
Suggestions:

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
