Dear Parents;

I would like to thank the parents and children for all your prayers and support during my husband illness. I was very tough, however he is dong very well, and will be out of the hospital this week.

Tomorrow I will begin making phone calls to see how you and tour child are doing, also to help you with your concerns about your child. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Zoom Lessons will begin. Tuesday at 11:30 AM, Wednesday 11:30, Thursday 2:00 PM, and on Friday at 11:00.

Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. Please bring shopping bags for the booklets. As you may know school will en on June 24th, 2020.

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse


Strategies:
  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Friday May 29, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.

Religion

Safe Environment

Aim:The children will be able to identify ways to stay safe when approached by stranger.

Vocabulary Words: safe, care, stranger, danger

Strategies:
  • First, review story Little Red Ridding Hood with the children.
  • Then ask  the following questions: What did Riding Hood’s mother told her? What happened to Riding when she stalked to the stranger? Do you think she will do next time a stranger talks to her? What should have Ridding hood done when the wolf came and ask her where she was going? What should you have done if you were Ridding Hood?
  • I will discuss with the children ways to stay safe such as not speaking to stranger, listen to their parents, following class and school rules, what to do if a stranger approaches them, such as  taking candy, money,or toys from stranger, also what to do if they get lost.
  • Summarize what we learned what they learned.



Reading

Questions and Statements

Aim: The children will learn to distinguish questions and statements.

Vocabulary words: statement, questions

Strategies:
  • First, tell your child that they are going to listen to the story "The Little Red Hen."
  • Then have your child the video "The little Red Hen": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E72TZy0LNo
  • Then I will ask: What did the Little Red Hen ask the other animals to do? What did they tell the Little Red Hen?
  • Then ask your child to continue retelling the story.
  • Then explain questions and statement.
  • Then I will give examples of questions. Example:Who will help me plant the grains?
  • then Give examples of statements. Example:" Not I" said the mouse.
  • Then remind your child that in the story The Little Red Hen ask the questions and the other characters tell.
  • Then have your child to identify the Little Red Hen and the other story characters.
  • Then I will tell the children that in the story the Little Red Hen Stands for asking and the other animals stand for telling.
  • I will give your child practice on telling and asking.
  • Then ask: What did the Little Hen ask the other animal? Is that a question or a statement?  Can you give me ans example of a question? What did the other animals say? Is that a question or a statement? Can you give me an example of a statement?
  • Finally summarize what he/she learned.


Math:

Exploring Patterns

Aim: Identify, copy, and extend a simple color pattern.

Vocabulary Words: Rhythm, pattern, repeat

Strategies:
  • First, give your child examples of patterns , such as circle/square, circle/square, or big/small, big/small.
  • Then cut small and big circles. Set each size in a separate stack on a table.
  • Then give your child a big circle and a small circle to start to create a simple pattern and complete the patterns, such as big/small, big/small.
  • Then have your child  say the pattern, and add  to the pattern, and ask: What size comes next? What size completes the pattern? What other ways can you make  a pattern using the same same shape with different sizes.
  • Then have your child create by selecting his different size shapes to create his pattern.
  • Then have your child say the pattern.

Homework: Write the letters Child's name on the notebook 3 X.


Story Time

James and the Rain

Aim: The children will learn about what activities they are able to do during a rainy day.

  • Then  talk about how we must dress according to weather.

Exploring Patterns

Aim:The children will learn to copy and extend a size pattern.

Strategies:
  • First display two sizes of an item, such as large and small book.
  • Hold one book in each hand.
  • Have your child  say large or small as I lift one book at a time.
  • Then repeat activity repeat with other objects.
  • Then I will model a size pattern on the chalkboard by taping up sheets of paper as follow: large/small, large/small, large/small.
  • Then I will say the pattern aloud and have  children repeat after me.
  • I will have the children answer the following questions: What comes next? How can you describe a size pattern? How would you explain the pattern?

  • Finally, check for comprehension, and help your child if he/she is  not able to comprehend the pattern.

Story Time: 

Nightingale

Aim: The children will learn:
  • Participate in discussion
  • Listen and respond to stories read aloud

  • Use pictures and prior knowledge
  • Understand characters
  • Determine important ideas

Strategies:
  • First talk to your child about birds s, such as they fly, they have wings, they most live on trees, and they hatch from eggs.
  • Then tell your child that they are going to listen to a story a bird who sings beautiful.
  • Then have your child listen to “The Nightingale."
  • Then I will help the children set a purpose for listening by telling the children to listen to find out what happens between the emperor and a nightingale.
  • Then I will ask: What they see in the picture? What do you think he does?
  • Tell the children the man is an emperor and he is like a king.
  • Then I will ask: What do you think a nightingale is? (a bird)  What did he do so well? (sing) Where did Nightingale lived? (forest) Who put her in a cage? How did Nightingale feel living in a cage?  How can you tell?  How did the emperor feel when nightingale left?  What did Nightingale do to help the emperor? how would you feel if you were in a place that you did not like? 
  • Finally, review the story with your child.

  • Then ask your child to use the words in a sentence.


Math

Reviewing Patterns

Aim: Copy and extend rhythm and movement patterns. 

Vocabulary Words: rhythm, movement, pattern

Strategies:
  • First I recite your child’s name several times, clapping as as I say each syllables.
  • Then have  your child join in as he/she become familiar with the rhythm.
  • Then repeat with with other names.
  • Then model  a simple sound pattern, such as clap/snap, clap/snap.
  • Have your child join in when they’re familiar with the pattern.
  • Then  repeat with other simple movement to form these patterns: AB, AB, AB, AB, AB, and AB.
  • Have your child make a variety of sounds using classroom objects, such as hitting two blocks together or tapping a on the table with a pencil.
  • Then form a rhythm band by you make one sound and your child another.
  • Finally ask the following questions: Can you repeat the pattern? How would you make that pattern? Can you create your own pattern.



Science

Animal Homes

Aim:The children will:
  • Identify animal habitats.
  • Understand animals have different characteristics that enable them to live in different habitats.

Vocabulary Words: ocean, pond,  land, cold, habitat

Strategies:
  • First ask your child: What kind of animals do you think you would see if you went for a walk in the park in your neighborhood? Where else would they see animals?
  • Then talk about the ocean and I will ask: What animals live in this place? What other animals you know live in the ocean? Which place you think is very cold? Why? Where does the owl live, on land or in the ocean?
  • Then  point out the ocean water is salty, and so different animals live in oceans than in fresh water found in lakes, ponds rivers, and streams.

  • Then go over special adaptations that animals have to them live in different places (e.g., The polar bears have huge feet shaped like snowshoes  to help it walk over the snow, and  it has heavy coat and a thick layer of fat to keep it warm.)
  • Then I will ask the children to use picture clues to answer questions.
  • Then I will ask: What habitat the owl lives? (land) What would happen to the owl if you took it to a very cold place to live like the polar bear's home?
  • Finally review forest and ocean.

Story Time

The Three Little Pigs

Aim: The children will listen to "The Three Little Pigs" and recognize the main idea.

Strategies:
  • First talk about the construction of a house, such as materials and style.
