Dear Parents;

I will  like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. The addition booklets will be use for homework. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Also, I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call again to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. Zoom lessons May 5th at 11:30 AM, 6th 11:00 AM, 7th, at 11:30 AM, 7th at 11:30 AM, and May 8 at 11:00 AM. I will called a group of parents for tomorrow's conference. The ID# is 764-301-9104. The children have been divide into four groups. I will let you know your child's group, and when to log into Zoom.


Lessons for May 6, 2020

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: mother, move, Mary, miracles, muffins, mittens, monkey, money, mouse

  • First, have your child spell May.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Monday , May 6, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

Religion:

Belonging to God

Aim : The children will learn to appreciate the cross as a sign of God's love for us.

Vocabulary Words: belong, appreciate, special, love, cross happy

Strategies:
  • First talk to how Jesus died in a cross.
  • Then  explain to your child that the cross is a sign of God's love for us. He gave us Jesus who died for us in the cross as a sign of his love for us.
  • Then ask the children: Who do you belong to? How would you show others that God loves them too? How do you feel belonging to God?
  • Then use  distribute string, pop-sicle sticks, cereal, or what ever you can find.
  • Then have the children form a cross, glue, and decorate the cross.

Reading

 Letters W w

Aim: The children will lean to write the letters W and w.

Vocabulary Words: wagon, watch, water, wand, wasp, web, well, wolf, worm

Strategies:
  • First, ask your child to identify words with the letter/sound /w/.
  • Then ask your to say a sentence with each word.
  • Then distribute p. 60 from Handwriting Book.
  • Then demonstrate how to form W.
  • Explain that we slant right down , then left slant up, then slant right down, finally slant left up.
  • Then I will ask the children to form W.
  • Then I will ask: What letters are these? What sound they make? What  words with initial /w/? Do we use curve lines or straight lines when we write W and w?
  • I will ask the children to practice writing w and w in activity P. 60.

Math: 

Explore Measurement

Aim: The children will learn to measure objects.

Vocabulary Words: longer, shorter, measure, length

Strategies:
  • I will explain to your child that when we measure length we want to find how long or short an object is.
  • I show a rectangular object. Then tell your child that you want to find out the length of the of object.
  • Then I will model how to measure the object using string.
  • Then emphasize that the edge of the  object should line up with the edge of the string and should touch.
  • Then have your child do the same.
  • Then  distribute snap cubes, pencil, and paper clip to your child.
  • Have your child measure the pencil and a paper clip using strings.
  • Then assist your child with measuring the pencil.
  • Have the children answer the following questions: From where do we begin measuring the object? Which ones is longest? which one is shortest? What did you do to find out? (measure the object)
  • Repeat Activity with different home objects.

Story Time: 
 A Bug Hunt by Tom Story

Aim: The children will learn about the different bugs you can find in a garden.

Vocabulary Word: worm, wiggly, catch, chat, catcher

Strategies:
  • First ask your child about the different bugs the have learned about.
  • Then tell your child that hey are going to listen to a story about a little girl who goes hunting for bugs.

  • Then review the story with the child'
  • Then ask: Who are the characters? What was the little girl doing? What did the little girl hunting for? Why she wanted to hunt for bugs? Was she able to catch the bug? What was the only bug she was able to catch? Was the bug happy about it? What did the little girl explain to to the wasp? What did she do to the wasp at the end of the story? would you like to go hunting for bugs? Why?

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
