10/30/17 to 11/3/17

Dear Parents,

The school's Halloween Parade will take place on Halloween Day, October 31st. It will start at 8:30 a.m. Children should come to school already in their costumes.  Parents are invited. After the parade, our class will have their Halloween Party for the children only. We are collecting a bag of candy and $5 for the food.

Please check your child's cubby for extra clothes.

REMINDER: Breakfast ends at 7:45 a.m.  Clean up ends at 8:00 a.m.  After this time, breakfast is not allowed. Lessons start at 8:00 a.m.

Themes of the Week:

Reading: "La Tortuga" listening for comprehension, book handling, use of prior knowledge; identifying letters Aa, Bb and Cc

Religion: "Wonderful Me"

Math: Numbers 1 through 5

Science: Weather

Dear Parents,

School is closed on Monday, October 23rd. 

The school's Halloween Parade will take place on Halloween. It will start at 8:30 a.m. Parents are invited. After the parade, our class will have their Halloween Party for the children only. We are collecting $5 for the food.

The Halloween costume contest will take place at 1:00 p.m.  Parents are invited to the costume contest.

Religion: Halloween - Make believe and Halloween safety rules

Reading: "La Tortuga" - skills: book handling, listen and respond to read aloud, discuss story and words, prior knowledge, identify soft and loud sounds, understand positional words "in" and "on"

Math: Counting to 10, arrange numbers 1 through 5, making groups of 1 to 3 objects

Science: investigate the external and internal characteristics of a pumpkin

Social Studies: neighborhoods

Story Time: "Big Pumpkin" and "Froggy's Halloween"

10/16/17 to 10/20/17

Dear Parents,

Noon dismissal on Monday, October 16th. On Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 6:00 p.m., there will be a Hurricane/Earthquake Relief Concert for Puerto Rico/Mexico featuring Bobby Sanabria  & Quarteto Ache. It will take place in the school auditorium. Tickets available in school office: $10.00 adults; $5.00 children. Finally, dress down every Friday if your child brings $1.00.

REMINDER: Leave children at the door.  Breakfast is not allowed after 8:00 a.m.

10/9/17 to 10/13/17

Dear Parents,

Our class will have their Hispanic Heritage Month presentation on Thursday, October 12th at 9:00 a.m.  Please have the children come dressed up in dress pants and dress shirt or sweater for the boys, and a nice dress for the girls.  Please no denim. Parents are invited.

Ivan will be conducting a fire safety presentation on Friday, October 14th at 9:00 a.m.

We are still collecting hygiene items for the victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.

Religion - God is with Us

Reading - "The Three Bears" - listening and responding to the story read aloud, determining important ideas, identifying sounds and match pictures

Math - patterns, copying and extending simple patterns

10/1/17 to 10/6/17

Dear Parents,

The annual blessing of domestic animals will occur on Wednesday during the 9:00 AM Mass.  Students may bring animals from home for this blessing. If dogs or cats are being brought to school they must return home with a parent after Mass.

Lessons of the Week:

Religion - the five senses and the life of St. Francis
Math - patterns (shape, rhythm, color, size)
Reading - following directions, listen for a purpose, understand story structure, match pictures, recall story elements
Science - the five senses (identify them and tell how each sense help them learn about living and non-living things)
Story time - "La Cucarachita Martina" and "The Tale of the Coyote and the Rabbit"

REMINDER:

When you drop your child at school, please leave the classroom as soon as possible.  There are children who become very agitated when they see other parents around and not their own.  So please drop your child off in the classroom and leave as soon as possible.
