Dear Parents;

This week I will begin making phone calls to see how you and tour child are doing, also to help you with your concerns about your child. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Zoom Lessons will begin. Monday at 11:00 AM, Tuesday at 11:30 AM, Wednesday 11:00, Thursday 11:30 PM. 

Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. Please bring shopping bags for the booklets. As you may know school will en on June 17th, 2020. There will be a Parent Teacher conference on June 18th, and June 22. I will be making calls to see what is the best time of the day for you.

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: jump, joy, jaguar, Jesus, jello, jeans, jacket, jeep, John, jelly, jar


Strategies:
  • First, have your child spell June.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /j/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Monday June 8, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.

Religion:

Caring for God's World

Aim: The children will learn the concept of our stewardship of God's creation at a developmental appropriate level.

Vocabulary Words: reuse, reduce, recycle.

Strategies:

Reading:

Rhymes

Humpty Dumpty

Aim: The children will learn about:
  • Identify rhyming words
  • Identify sequence of events
  • Draw conclusions

Vocabulary Words: hat, hen, horse, hammer, hose, haystack, hop, Humpty, egg, cracked, sat, fall, put together, fragile

Strategies:
  • First show your child two two eggs: one boiled, and one raw.
  • Then peel the boiled egg and I will ask: Where have you seen me do this?
  • Then place the raw egg in the sandwich bag to throw it in the floor.
  • Then ask: What happened to the egg? Do you think you could put together the egg again? Why not? When have you seen me or dad do this?
  • Then say why we can not reassemble the egg.
  • Then discuss the parts of the egg. (shell, yolk, egg white)
  • Then have your child observe how the eggs are fragile.
  • Then I will tell your child that she/she will listen to the rhyme "Humpty Dumpty": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIIj0mBX1jU&vl=en
  • Then ask your child to identify uppercase H and lowercase h.
  • Have your child recall  say words with initial /h/.
  • Then listen to the rhyme again..
  • Then ask: Who was Humpty Dumpty? What part of his body protects the inside of his body? What happened to Humpty? Where the kings men's able to put him together again? Why not? Do you think he will climb the wall again? What do you think he should do next time to prevent this from happening?
  • Then I will give examples of rhyming words. Examples cat-hat, mouse-house.
  • Have your identify the rhyming words in Humpty Dumpty.
  • then ask your child  to say the rhyme with you.
  • Then I will ask the children to tell the sequence of event. (What happened first, next, last)
  • Summarize what he learned.

Math:

Numbers 1-5

Aim: The children will learn to identify and write the number 4.

Vocabulary Words: curve lines, straight lines, three

Strategies:
  • First write numbers from 1-5 in a card.
  • Then ask your child to arrange numbers 0-5.
  • Then ask your child to count 0-5.
  • Then ask your child to identify the number 1-5.
  • Then write the number 1- 4 and and have your child add a counters to match the number.
  • Then ask your child to point to, count, and say the numbers of counters.
  • Then ask them: What numbers is that? Do we use straight lines or curves when writing 1, 2, 3 and 4? How do you write 4?
  • Then hand in the Notebook,  pencil or crayons and have your child write the number 1-4
  • Then I will model how to write numbers 1-4 on the Notebook.
  • Then help your child if he/she has any difficulties writing the numbers. 

Homework: Write numbers 1-4 3 X each on the notebook.


Science:

Weather

Aim:The children will:
  • Observe, record and communicate about each day’s weather.
  • Observe how clouds are formed

Vocabulary Words: weather, rainy, sunny, snow, hot, cold, windy, cloudy, form

Strategies:
  • Have children identify rainy, snowy, windy, cloudy, sunny, cold and hot.
  • Then explain weather of the day.
  • Then ask : How is the weather today? How does it feel outside? How would you dress for today’s weather?
  • Then have the children record weather of the day.
  • Then tell your child that they are going to make an experiment on how clouds form.
  • First, display a jar with warm water, then I will take the lid off and spray the inside of the jar, then add ice cubes to the lid of the jar.
  • Then ask your: Then I will remove the lid from the jar and I will ask: What happened to the cloud? (It escaped to the air.

  • Then I will ask: What was the book about? What did the clouds look like? where can we find clouds?
