Dear Parents;

I would like to thank the parents and children for all your prayers and support during my husband illness. I was very tough, however he is dong very well, and will be out of the hospital this week.

Tomorrow I will begin making phone calls to see how you and tour child are doing, also to help you with your concerns about your child. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Zoom Lessons will begin. Monday at 11 AM, Tuesday at 11:30 AM, Wednesday 11:00, Thursday 11:30 PM, and on Friday at 11:00.

Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. Please bring shopping bags for the booklets. As you may know school will en on June 17th, 2020. Parent Teacher will be scheduled for June 18 and 22.

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: jump, joy, jaguar, Jesus, jello, jeans, jacket, jeep, John, jelly, jar


Strategies:
  • First, have your child spell June.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /j/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Wednesday June 3, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.

Religion:

Our Five Senses

Aim: The children will become more aware of and appreciate the sense of hearing.

Vocabulary Words: sense, hear, ears, loud, soft

Strategies:
  • First,  tell your child that he/she is going to learn about another wonderful gift that God has given us. It is the gift of hearing.
  • Then tell your to cover their ears as you speak.
  • Then ask your child  what did you say, and why they were not able to hear me.
  • Then tell your child that  he/she going to listen to some soft sounds and some loud sounds.
  • Then make a loud and a soft sound and tell your child to listen to the sounds.

  • Then have your child identify the soft sounds and the loud sounds. 
  • Then I will explain that sound is a gift of God so that we can helps identify warning sounds or recognize sounds that make us happy.
  • Then I will give examples of warning sounds ( ambulances, polices sirens) and happy sounds. (Laughing)
  • Then I will ask the following questions: What organ do we use to hear? What kinds of sounds can we hear? How can sounds help us? What would happen if we can not hear?

Math:

Exploring Patterns

Aim: Identify, copy, and extend a simple shape pattern.

Vocabulary Words: shape, copy, extend

Strategies:
  • First,  ask your child that we are going to copy and extend a shape pattern.Then ask: What do we do when we copy a patter?  (Make the same pattern)What do we do when we extend the patter? (Add the the shape that goes after)
  • Then give I will give shapes to your child to begin a shape pattern , such as circle/square, circle/square, circle.
  • Then have your child say the pattern and say what shape goes next.
  • Then have your child make another pattern with different shapes. 
  • Then I will ask: What shape will you start with? Can you predict what shape comes next? Can you form another shape pattern using the same shapes? (Demonstrate)
  • I will walk around to help with the for understanding of a shape pattern.


Reading:

Predict Outcomes

Aim: The children will listen to There's an Alligator Under My Bed and will learn to predict outcomes.

Vocabulary Words: predict outcome

Strategies:
  • First ask your child if they have seen an Alligator.
  • Then tell your child that they will listen to the story "There is an Alligator Under My Bed."
  • Then explain that thinking about what is going to happen next helps them understand and enjoy stories.
  • Then  talk about predicting outcomes. That when they share an idea of what is going to happen next, they are predicting.
  • Then show your child the cover of the book.

  • Then stop the story and have your child predict what they think is going to happen next.
  • Have the children answer the following questions: What do you think the story might be about? What do you think is going to happen next? Did it happened? Which of you prediction were correct? What helped you make those predictions? (Listening for clues)
  • Summarize the concept of making predictions.

Homework: Write child's name 3X in the Notebook

Story Time: The Watermelon Seed by Greg Pizzoli

Aim: the children will learn what happens when a crocodile swallows a watermelon seed.

Vocabulary Words: seed, watermelon, swallow
  • First, your child that a crocodile and an alligator are not the same, however they are from the same family.
  • Then tell them that they are going to listen to a story about a crocodile who loves watermelon.

  • Then stop the video when the crocodile swallows the seed, and ask: what do you think is going to happen to crocodile now? How did the crocodile's stomach feel? Why was the crocodile worried? How did he feel when the seed came out? Did he stopped eating watermelon? What is your favorite fruit?

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
