Dear Parents;

I would like to thank the parents and children for all your prayers and support during my husband illness. I was very tough, however he is dong very well, and will be out of the hospital this week.

Tomorrow I will begin making phone calls to see how you and tour child are doing, also to help you with your concerns about your child. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Zoom Lessons will begin. Monday at 11 AM, Tuesday at 11:30 AM, Wednesday 11:30, Thursday 11:30 PM, and on Friday at 11:00.

Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. Please bring shopping bags for the booklets. As you may know school will en on June 18, 2020.

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: jump, joy, jaguar, Jesus, jello, jeans, jacket, jeep, John, jelly, jar


Strategies:


  • First, have your child spell June.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /j/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is  Thursday June 4, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.

Religion:

Singing and Dancing

Aim:The children will learn to appreciate how wonderfully made by God they are that they can enjoy singing and dancing.

Vocabulary Words: sing, dance, voices, appreciate

Strategies:
  • First I will play a happy music, and I will ask how they feel as they listen to the music.
  • Then I will play a sad music, and I will ask the children whether they feel different as they listen to the music.
  • Then I will play one of the children favorite song, and then have each child take a turn sing and dancing to the song.

  • Then I will ask: How did you feel when we played a happy music? What happened When we played a sad music? Which music is your favorite?
  • Finally, summarize what we learned.


Reading:

Initial sound /z/

Aim: Recognize the sound /z/ in initial position and associate the Z z with the sound /z/.

Vocabulary Words: zero, zoo, zipper, zebra

Strategies:

Homework: Write the letter Z on the Handwriting Book

Math:

Solid Shapes

Aim: The children will learn to identify solid shapes in the environment.

Vocabulary Words: sphere, cone, cube, cylinder

Strategies:
  • I will review names of solid shapes and their attributes.
  • Have the children listen and respond to the song on solid figure on the website "#D Sg=hapes I know": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cg-Uc556-Q
  • Then I will display a collection of geometric figures, and challenge the children in building a structure, such as a castle.
  • Then ask: Can you name the solid shapes? Have the child build a structure. Ask: What shapes did you use? Can you use a sphere to build a structure?  Why not?

Story Time:How Zebras Got Their Name

A Ugandan Folktale

Aim: The children will learn about a story told from people to people long time ago.

Vocabulary Words: donkey, zebra, relax, appreciated, bundles, appreciated, graze

Strategies:
  • First ask to your child describe a zebras.
  • Then tell your child that they are going to listen to a story about zebras.

  • Then review the story.
  • Then ask: Who are the characters? What happened to the donkeys? Who did they talk to? What did they tell their problem? What did the wise man did for the donkeys? Did what the wise man did work? What did the other donkeys do? Were all the donkeys painted? Why or why not? 

Suggestions:

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, puzzles, exercise, or meditate.
