Dear Parents;

I would like to thank the parents and children for all your prayers and support during my husband illness. I was very tough, however he is dong very well, and will be out of the hospital this week.

Tomorrow I will begin making phone calls to see how you and tour child are doing, also to help you with your concerns about your child. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Zoom Lessons will begin. Monday at 11 AM, Tuesday at 11:30 AM, Wednesday 11:30, Thursday 11:30 PM, and on Friday at 11:00.

Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to do classwork at home. It would be a great idea to acquire the rest of the booklets so that your child can use them for classwork and their summer vacation. Please bring shopping bags for the booklets. As you may know school will en on June 24th, 2020.

Lessons for June 2, 2020

Pray:  Our Father

Pledge of Allegiance:

  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).
Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: jump, joy, jaguar, Jesus, jello, jeans, jacket, jeep, John, jelly, jar


Strategies:
  • First, have your child spell June.
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /j/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Tuesday June 2, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.

Religion:

Aim: The children will learn to appreciate the sense of sight and touch.

Vocabulary Words: flesh, pulp, seeds , stem, color, feel, touch

Strategies:
  • First, tell your child that we will learn about a wonder full gift that God has given us. It is the gift of sight.
  • Then ask your child what wonderful things is to able to see.

  • Then place  two bags with different object inside.
  • Then have your child cover his eyes, then take an object from  inside the bag and tell what it is.
  • Then  ask: What do you think it is? Have the children open their yes and see if they were correct. How can you describe the object? What organ sense helped you explore the object? Can you point at you eyes? How many eyes do you have? What can eyes hep you do?
  • Then I will display an apple, then she will ask the children the following question: What is the name of this fruit? What color is it?
  • I will explain that we are going to talk about apples.
  • Review vocabulary words.
  • Then hand the apple to your child and let him feel the apple.
  • Ask: How does the  apple  feels on the outside? (bumpy, rough, smooth, spiky, hard, or soft)
  • Then slice the apple, and have your child touch and describe the apple:( smooth, or hard) 
  • Then ask: What did you find out about the apple?  How did you senses help do with the apple? (They help describe the apple.)

Math:

Solid Shapes

Aim: The children will identify solid figures in the environment.

Vocabulary Words: sphere, cube, cone, cylinder

Strategies:
  • First, I will display solid figures and will introduce them by name.


Homework: Match shapes to the Real World (Print or match on the computer.)

Reading:

The Naughty Shoe

Aim: The children will listen to the "The Elves and the Shoemaker" and will draw conclusions.

Vocabulary Words: sole, leather, trousers, shoemaker, elves

Strategies:
  • First ask your child to look at the many shoes he/she has.
  • Then ask your child to  discuss how their shoes are the same and how they are different.
  • Then ask the children: Why do we wear shoe? (To protect our feet.) What kind of shoes do you have? which one is your favorite?
  • Then  ask your child to conclude on which type of shoes they would wear in different weather.
  • Then set up a purpose for listening by telling the children that I will read read the story "The Elves and the Shoemaker."

  • Then I ask the children what do they think the story is going to be.
  • Then I will read and stop to ask the following questions: Who are the character? What did the shoemaker do to make money? Who helped the shoemaker? What did the shoemaker do to help the elves? What would you do if someone needed your help?

Suggestions:

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
