I hope you and your family stay healthy and that God guide through our hard time. My prayers will be with all of you and your family.

I will be contacting the parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also, please pick up your child's package at the school office. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. You could pick up your child's packages at school from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Those children who are more advance with the handwriting could work individually with the My Sight Words handwriting Book, and the other booklet. The addition booklet will be use for homework.


I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. We will have a Zoom Conference  Friday, April 3 at 11:30. The Zoom ID#764-301-9104. I hope to see you soon!

Spring Recess will begin on Wednesday, April 8th, 2020, and will resume on April 20th. We will be posting our daily blog every day until Wednesday the 8th, and when we resume our Spring Break.

Pray:  Our Father

Vocabulary Words: apple, alligator, acrobat, ant, astronaut, ox, again, alphabet
  • First, have your child spell April
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /a/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Friday,  April 3, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

Religion
Aim: The children will listen and answer questions about the bible story "Jesus is Laid in the Tomb".

Vocabulary Words: disciples, supper, enemies, arrest, bread, wine, betray

Strategies:
  • First, review Bible Stories with your child.then tell your child that they will listen and see a very sad story about Jesus.
  • Then view the bible story "Jesus is Laid on a Tomb": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9zaXGUGKsM
  • Then review the story "Jesus was Laid in a Tomb" with your child.
  • The ask your child: What happened to Jesus? (He was was laid on the tomb.) Who asked for his body? (his follower Joseph) Who took down his body? (Joseph and Nicodemus) What did they do to his body? (Cleanse his body and wrapped it.) What did Jesus promised? (He will come alive again.)  How do you feel sad or happy now that you know he will come alive again?
  • Review the answers with your child.
  • Tell your child to have faith in God  and Jesus.
Phonics

Aim: The children will learn to write /T and t.

Vocabulary Words: table, toe, telephone, toy, turn, tiger, taxi, tire, ten, turtle, truck, train, tail, top

Strategies:
  • Have your child identify T and t.
  • Tell your child that the letters T and t make the /t/  like tiger and tie.
  • Then tell the children that the words turn, tugboat, tomato, turtle, tiger, tie, tire, ten, two, taxi, telephone have initial sound /t/.
  • Give your child of sentences with those words.
  • Have the child view  "English Hello Carrie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVoTfuiMTUc
  • Show your child the letters t and t. Describe the stroke you use, point out where each stroke begins and ends. (Make a straight line down. Go to the top and make another line from left to right. For lowercase t make a straight line down . Then draw a short,  straight line fro left to right that crosses the first line, a little down  from its top.
  • Then hand your child a paper and crayons and ask him to write the letters T and t.
 Home Work: Write the letters uppercase T in the Handwriting book P 56.


Math:

Aim: The children will learn to identify the equal sign and solve addition sentence with sums to 6.

Vocabulary Words: plus sign, equal sign, sum.

Strategies:

First, display two addition sentences, one with and one without an equal sign.

  • Have your child tell what is different about the second addition sentence.
  • Then have your child watch :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJ-WlHh2gcE
  • Have your child solve the addition problems on the video game.
  • I your child can not log in, have him use , coins, legos, or crayons.
  • Then have them solve and addition and say. For example: 5 crayons + 1 = 6 crayons.
  • Have your child say and solve other addition problems.
Homework:  Size Activity cover with Picture Addition: page with  deck of cards symbols p. 25. You need to count the pages. There are no numbers on the pages.

Note: The children will not do vertical addition.


Story Time: "The Monkey and the Turtle" by Paul Galdone

Aim: The children will learn to share with others.

Vocabulary Words: ripe, share, peel, stem, grow, wilt

Strategies:  

  • First ask your child what things can he share with others.
  • Then tell him is an act of kindness.
  • Then tell him that to listen carefully to video he will see how monkey doesn't want to share with turtle.

  • Then review the story with your child.
  • The ask: How are characters? What did turtle ask monkey to do? (Help him plant the banana tree.) What did monkey do? (He wanted the best part of the banana tree.) What part did the turtle choose? What happened to the turtles stem? What part of the tree grew into a a banana tree?  Why did monkey didn't want to share with monkey? What did he do not to share? What did turtle do the monkey? What did Monkey do to the turtle? At the end of the story:  Who tricked who? Who do you think was right?
Music: 
Suggestions:
  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, puzzles, exercise, or meditate.
