Dear Parents;

I will  also like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. The addition booklets will be use for homework.

I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call again to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. I'm going to have a Zoom conference on April 28th at 11:30, April 29th, 30th and May 1st at 11:00 AM. I will called a group of parents for tomorrow's conference. The ID# is 764-301-9104. The children will be divide into four groups. I will let you know your child's group, and when to log into Zoom.

Pray:  Our Father


Pledge of Allegiance:


  • Ask your child what the colors of the flag means : red means courage; white means peace and purity; blue means justice.
  • How many stars are in the american flag (50).

Calendar:

Vocabulary Words: apple, alligator, acrobat, ant, astronaut, ax, again, alphabet, acorn 

  • First, have your child spell April
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /a/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Monday,  April 28, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"


Religion:

God is with Us

Aim: The children will learn to do kind things to others as God intended us to do.

Vocabulary Words: paintbrush, kind, caring, helping, mean, greedy

Strategies:

  • First, tell your child that in the bible Jesus was always doing good things to people who were in need: Example curing a blind man.
  • Then explain that we should also do what Jesus did with others.
  • Then I will explain that I am going to view the story "The Magic Paintbrush": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy2TUvycfeg
  • Then review the story with your child and add details.
  • Then I will ask: What good things did Ho did with his magic paintbrush? Why did the emperor put Ho in jail? What did Ho do to the emperor? What did Ho do after he made the emperor go away? What good thing would you do if you had a magic paintbrush? Which in the bible does Ho reminds you of? Why?
  • Summarize what we learned in the story.

Phonics:

Associate V v with initial sound /v/

Aim: Associating the letters V v with initial sound /v/.

Vocabulary Words: vest, violets, violin, van, vegetables, vine, valentine

Strategies:

  • First, have your child identify uppercase V and lowercase v.
  • Then we will review initial /v/as in vase.
  • Have your child  name word with initial sound  /v/.

  • Then ask your child to repeat the words in the song that have the letters V and v.
  • Then introduce the letter/v/ sound correspondence V v /v/.

Math:

Exploring Subtraction

Aim: The children will learn to identify the minus sign sign, and how to use in subtraction.

Vocabulary Words: minus, are left

Strategies:
  • I will review numbers 0 to 10 with the children.
  • Then  ask your child what do we when we subtract.
  • Have your child act out subtraction story problem: There were 5 birds on a fence. Two birds flew away how many are left. How many birds are still on the fence? (Have your child use objects to represent the birds.)
  • Then I will ask the children the numbers from the story, then I will write 5 - 2 on paper.
  • Explain that the minus number comes between the two numbers to show that you subtract the second number from the first number.
  • Then have your child act out another subtraction story problem. There were six birds on a fence. Three birds went away. How many birds are still on  the fence? What does the minus sign tell you? What do you do to solve a subtraction problem?
  • Summarize what he learned.

Story Time: The Very Quiet Cricket by Eric Carle

Aim: The children will learn to work hard and never give up for the things they want.

Vocabulary Words: chirp, sound, rubbed, wings

Strategies:
  • First review the parts of an insect. ( two wings, three body parts, exoskelleton, antenna) 
  • Then tell your child that he is going to listen to the story "The Very Quiet Cricket": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdiGEjz5b0Q
  • The review the story with your child.
  • Then ask: Who is the story about? What problem did the cricket have? How did he solve it? (He kept practicing.) What did you learn from the story? (To never give up.)

Music: Insects by Rachel and the Treeschooler:

Suggestions:

  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play games on ABCya!
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, puzzles, exercise, or meditate.
