March 31, 2020

I hope you and your family stay healthy and that God guide through our hard time. My prayers will be with all of you and your family.

I will be contacting the parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also, please pick up your child's package at the school office. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. You could pick up your child's packages at school from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Those children who are more advance with the handwriting could work individually with the My Sight Words handwriting Book, and the other booklet. The addition booklet will be use for homework.


I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. Also, we are trying set t Zoom Conference for my class. This is going to take place sometime this week. I might need your email, I will let you know.

Vocabulary Words: apple, acorn, alligator, acrobat. astronaut
  • First, have your child spell April
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /a/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Wednesday,  April 1, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"


Religion

Aim: The children will listen and answer questions about the bible story "Jesus is Arrested".

Vocabulary Words: miracles, parables, disciples, supper, enemies, arrest, bread, wine, betray

Strategies:
  • First, review Bible Stories with your child.
  • Then view the bible story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzFatYi-Z0U
  • Then review the story "Jesus is Arrested" with your child.
  • The ask your child: What did Jesus tell his disciples? (Someone will betray me.) What did Jesus ask his disciples to do? (Pray with Him) What did Judas do to Jesus? (betrayed Him) Would you betray Jesus? Why, or Why not?
  • Review the answers with your child.
  • Tell your child that they should never deny that they are Christians and love Jesus.
Phonics:

Aim: The children will learn to recognize the sound /t/ in initial position.

Vocabulary Words: table, toe, telephone, toy, turn, tiger, taxi, tire, ten, turtle, truck, train, tail, top

Strategies:
  • Write uppercase T and t.
  • Then have your child identify uppercase T and lowercase t.
  • Tell your child that the letters T and t make the /t/  like tiger and tie.
  • Then tell the children that turn, tugboat, tomato, turtle, tiger, tie, tire, ten, two, taxi, telephone have initial sound /t/.
  • Give your child of sentences with those words.

  • Ask your child: What letter is the uppercase and which letter is the lowercase ? What sound do the letters T and t make? Can you recall words with the /t/ sound?
 Home Work: Write the letters uppercase T in the Handwriting book P 54.

Math

Find the Sum


Aim: The children will learn to identify the equal sign and solve addition sentence with sums to 6.

Vocabulary Words: plus sign, equal sign, sum

Strategies:
  • First, display two addition sentence one without the plus sign and the other without the equal sing.
  • I will tell the children to look carefully at the two addition sentences and tell what is missing in one.
  • Have a volunteer point and tell  what is different about the second addition sentence.
  • I will ask what does the equal sign means..
  • ask your child  to solve an addition problem using , coins, beans, candy,or crayons.
  • Then make an addition problem. For example: 3 beans + 3 beans = 6 beans .
  • Have your child say and solve other addition problems.

Story Time: Rabbit Ears by Amber Stewart

Aim: The children will learn how we can learn from  others.

Vocabulary Words: ears, clean, 

Strategies:
  • First ask your child to tell ways they can take care of themselves (take a bath; wash your hair; brush your teeth, eat healthy foods).
  • Then ask your child: What is something they don't like to do? Why?
  • Then tell your child that he will listen to a story about what a bunny  who did not like to wash his ears.

  • Review the story with your child.
  • Ask your child: Who are the characters? What did Hopschotch didn't like to do? What made him wash his ears? What lesson did he learned?

Suggestions:
  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, exercise, puzzles, or meditate.
