I hope you and your family stay healthy and that God guide through our hard time. My prayers will be with all of you and your family.

I will be contacting the parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also, please pick up your child's package at the school office. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. You could pick up your child's packages at school from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Those children who are more advance with the handwriting could work individually with the My Sight Words handwriting Book, and the other booklet. The addition booklet will be use for homework.


I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. Also, we are trying set t Zoom Conference for my class. This is going to take place sometime next week. I will let you know.

Vocabulary Words: mother, mop, monkey, miracles, money, Monday, me, mirror, Mary
  • First, have your child spell March
  • Then ask him for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Then ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date? (Say day, month, number, year) Example: Today is Monday,  March 27, the year 2020.
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"

Religion

Aim: The children will listen and answer questions about the bible story The First Palm Sunday.

Vocabulary Words: miracles, parables, disciples, donkey, Jerusalem

Strategies:
  • First, review Bible Stories with your child.
  • Then view  Bible Story: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PSgoPdKQFQ
  • Then review the story with the children.
  • Then ask your child the following questions: Who is the story about? Where did Jesus go to?  What did Jesus use to travel to Jerusalem?  How the people greeted Jesus? How would you greet Jesus if he came to your town?

Writing

Write lowercase r

Aim: The children will identify uppercase R and lowercase r, and identify the initial sound /r/.


Vocabulary Words: radio, ring, rabbit, rainbow, record, rooster, robot, rake, run 

Strategies:
  • First introduce the letters R and r.
  • Have your child identify uppercase R and lowercase r.
  • Have your child name words with initial /r/.
  • Have your child watch: "English Hello Carrie" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npGArkqyWPY
  • Then tell your child that they are going to learn to write lowercase r.
  • Ask your child to describe what kinds of lines we use to write r (Write a line from top to bottom, then from bottom up curve right.
  • Have your child trace and write r in Activity p. 51 from the Handwriting Book.


Math

Exploring Addition

Aim: The children will learn to identify the equal sign and solve addition sentence with sums to 6.

Vocabulary Words: plus sign, equal sign, sum.

Strategies:

  • First, display two addition sentences, one with and one without an equal sign.
  • Have your child tell what is different about the second addition sentence.
  • Then have your child watch :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AN6oADlwBSM
  • Have your child solve the addition problems on the video game.
  • I your child can not log in have him draw, or cut out six carrots, apple, or oranges.
  • Then have them solve and addition and say. For example: 3 apples + 2 apples = 5 apples.
  • Have your child say and solve other addition problems.

Science

Aim: The children will learn to identify parts of the plant and what is their job.

Vocabulary Words: roots, stem, leaf, flower

Strategies:
  • First, ask your child what do plants need to grow (soil, water, and sunshine).
  • Tell the child that we needs plants for food, and oxygen, and for many animals to build their homes. 
  • Tell your child that most plants have four main parts: roots, stem, leaf, and flowers.

  • Ask your child the following questions: What are the four main parts of a plant? What do we get from the plants? (oxygen) What does the root, stem, leaves, and flower do?
Story Time: The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle

Aim: The children will learn about the sequence of events.

Vocabulary Words: seeds, wind, grow, ground, tiny, weed, blanket, burst, bud, seed pod, beginning, middle, end

Strategies:
  • First ask your child to identify the four main parts of the plant. (Root, stem, leaf, flower)
  • Then ask your child where do we get seeds from.

  • Review the story with your child.
  • Ask your child: What happens at the beginning of the story? What happens in the middle of the story? What happens at the end of the story?
Music: 
Suggestions:
  • Have your child draw, color , or trace.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Say the Pledge o of Allegiance,
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Have your child help in the daily chores.
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, exercise, or meditate.
