I hope you and your family stay healthy and that God guide through our hard time. My prayers will be with all of you and your family.

I will be contacting the parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also, please pick up your child's package at the school office. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. You could pick up your child's packages at school from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Those children who are more advance with the handwriting could work individually with the My Sight Words handwriting Book, and the other booklet. The addition booklet will be use for homework.

Pray:  Our Father


Calendar


Vocabulary Words: mother, mop, monkey, miracles, money, Monday, me, mirror, Mary
  • First, spell March
  • Then ask for words with initial sound /m/.
  • Ask: How many days we have in a week?   What day are we in? What is the date?
  • Have the children count forward from 1-10, and from 10 to 1.
  • Count in ordinals from 1st- 5th.
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"
Religion

Aim: The children will review Jesus' Miracles

Vocabulary Words: miracles, parables, disciples

Strategies:
  • Review Bible Stories with your child.
  • View  Bible Story Aim: The children will review Jesus' Miracles
  • Review Bible Stories with your child.

  • Review the story with the children.
  • Then ask your child the following questions: Who is the story about? Did people like him? What did he learned? What did you learn from the story?
  • Discuss the many miracles Jesus performed.

Phonics and Phonemic awareness

The Letters R r

Aim: The children will identify uppercase S and lowercase s, and identify the initial sound /kw/.


Vocabulary Words: radio, ring, rabbit, rainbow, record, rooster, robot, rake, run 

Strategies:
  • First introduce the letters R and r.
  • Have your child identify uppercase R and lowercase r.
  • Have your child name words with initial /r/.
  • Have your child watch: "English Hello Carrie" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=npGArkqyWPY
  • Ask your child to circle pictures with initial sound /r/ in Activity P. 120.
  • Review the initial sound /r/ , and identify uppercase R and lowercase r.
Math

Addition

Aim: The children will learn to identify the plus and equal signs, and identify the sum of up to six objects.

Vocabulary Words: plus, equal, sum

Strategies:
  • First have your child identify the plus and equal signs.
  • Have the listen to Sid the Seed:

  • Review story.
  • Distribute six seeds to your child.
  • The ask the children to place two and count them as they place them. Then add 4 more. 
  • Have your child say the addition sentence.
  • Then ask your child to count  all the seeds and  tell how many seeds are all together, and then tell the sum.
  • Then have the child  solve  other addition problem by joining  two groups together, and tell  tell how many seeds they have in all.
  • Finally, ask to identify the plus, equal sign, and identify the sum.


Homework: Activity P. 3 on Add it Up or have your child make and solve their own addition problem if the child does not have the booklet.

Science

Aim:The children will learn to identify the four main parts of a plant.

Vocabulary Words: roots, stem, leaf, flower

Strategies:
  • First, ask your child what do plants need to grow (soil, water, and sunshine).
  • Tell the child that we needs plants for food, and oxygen, and for many animals to build their homes. 
  • Tell your child that most plants have four main parts: roots, stem, leaf, and flowers.

  • Ask your child the following questions: What are the four main parts of a plant? What do we get from the plants? (oxygen) Can you name some of the plants we eat? 
Activity: Have your child draw a plant.

Poem Time: Easter Story for Kids

Aim: The children will learn to count in ordinals from 1-5; and colors, and rhyming words

Vocabulary Words: first, second, third, fourth, fifth, red, yellow, blue, green, purple, rhyme

Strategies:
  • First, write the numbers 1-5 in an index card or paper, then cont the numbers in ordinals.
  • Have your child count in ordinals from 1-5.
  • Then tell your child that in this story they will count in ordinals, identify color, and rhyming words. ( me-tree, day-play, be-tree, smile-mile, grin-spin, hole-bowl, spot-knot)
  • Have your child listen to the poem.

  • Have your child identify: colors, ordinals from 1-5, and rhyming word.
  • Finally, ask the following questions: How many bunnies were in the story? What colors were mentioned in the story? What were the bunnies doing?  What were they celebrating? How are you going to celebrate Easter? 
Activity: Ask your child to draw an Easter egg.

Suggestions:
  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play Alphabet or Number Bingo, I Spy, legos, exercise, or meditate.
