Dear Parents,


I hope you and your family stay healthy and that God guide through our hard time. My prayers will be with all of you and your family.


I will be contacting the parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also, please pick up your child's package at the school office. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. You could pick up your child's packages at school from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.


Lesson Plan for March 24, 2020


Pray:  Our Father


Calendar:

  • Have your child spell March.
  • Ask for words with initial sound /m/,  How many days we have in a week? How many days we have in a week? What day we are in? What is the date?
  • Have your child sing  "There are Seven Days"
Religion:


Aim: The children will review Jesus' Miracles

Vocabulary Words: miracles, parables, disciples

Strategies:
  • Review Bible Stories with your child.
  • View  Bible Story Aim: The children will review Jesus' Miracles

    Strategies:

  • Tell the children that God gave us Jesus as His gift to us.
  • Discuss the many miracles Jesus performed.

Phonics and Phonemic awareness:

The Letters Q q


Aim: The children will identify uppercase Q and lowercase q, and identify the initial sound /kw/.


Vocabulary Words: quarter, quilt, quack, queen, question, quail


Strategies
  • First introduce the letters Q and q.
  • Have your child identify uppercase Q and lowercase q.
  • Have your child name words with initial /kw/.

  • Ask your child what kind of lines we use to write Q q (Q we use curve lines and a slant line, for lowercase q we use lowercase q we use curve line).
  • Have your child practice writing the uppercase Q and lowercase q in the Handwriting Book p. 48.
Homework: Write the letters Q and q 3 X in the notebook.

Math:

Addition

Aim: The children will learn to identify the plus and equal signs, and identify the sum of up to six objects.

Vocabulary Words: plus, equal, sum

Strategies:
  • First have your child identify the plus and equal signs.
  • Have the listen to Six little Chicks: http://www.jezalborough.com/
  • Then have the children draw and cut six eggs.
  • Review story.
  • The ask the children to place five egg and count them as they place them. Then add one more. 
  • Then ask your child to count the eggs all together and tell how many are all together, and then tell the sum.
  • Then have the child solve the addition problem by counting the two groups together and tell how many they have in all.
  • Have your child solve other addition problems.

Science

Aim: Identify steps in the life cycle of plants.

Vocabulary Words: seed, grow, change

Strategies:
  • Tell your child the different seeds they eat at home.
  • Show your child different seeds examples: beans, rice, nuts,or seeds inside fruits.
  • If you have an apple, cut the apple and show your child the seed.
  • Then tell your child that seeds become plants, and that they are living thins because they need soil, sun, and water to grow.

  • Then ask your child:What do we need to grow a seed? What happens to the seed when you plant it water it and gets plenty of sunshine? What kind of seeds do we eat? what is your favorite seed?
Homework : Draw a and color a seed.


Story Time: Sid The Seed by Daniel Pagan @ Silly Lion

Strategies:
  • Talk to your child about seeds, such as different seeds, shape size.
  • Then have your child watch the video "Sid The Seed" by Daniel Daniel R. Pagan.
  • Have the children answer the following questions: Who are the characters? What happened to Sid's friends? (They grew and changed.) How did Sid feel his friends left? What was seed afraid of? What did he do to overcome his fears? 
  • Have your child tell how they have grown and changed.
Music:
Suggestions:
  • Have your child draw or color.
  • Have your child pray every morning.
  • Read to your child every day and ask questions.
  • Help in the daily chores.
  • Play Alphabet Bingo, I Spy, exercise, or have them meditate.

    Water Transportation:

    Aim: The children will learn how we use water to move from one place to another using water as our means of transportation.

    Vocabulary Words: transport, sail boat, yacht, ship, submarine, canoe, fishing boat, speed boat, ferry boat, jet skis, row boats

    Strategies:
    • Explain to your child that we use water transportation to travel from one place to another, such as taking a cruise on a ship.  We also use water transportation to bring goods from one place to another, such as bring toys from one country to ours, or from our to another country.

    • Review what the child saw. 
    • Ask:
      • What are some modes of transportation? 
      • What is your favorite? 
      • Why?
    • Ask your child to draw their favorite means of transportation.

    • Tell the children that spring is here and that during spring many animals that are hibernating come out of their hibernation.
    • Ask the children to listen carefully to the video because they are going to find out what happened to bear.

      • Who are the characters? 
      • What was the problem? 
      • What did the bear's friends planned to do to wake up bear?

    Due to  the continued concern surrounding the COVID-19 , and the advice of Mr. Mr. Michael J. Deegan Superintendent of Schools of the Archdiocese of New York to close the schools, we are sending some work home for  your child s to continue their learning. 

     Week's work suggestions:


     Religion:

    Dear Parents;


    I would like our parents to know that a letter has been posted to the school blog regarding the Coronavirus. This letter was sent by Mr. Michael Deegan the superintendent of the school.

    Also, all the children must go to the bathroom and wash their hands before entering the classroom. These are new guidelines.


    Graduation picture will be on May 6th, 2020.


    Dress down on Fridays and bring a dollar.


    Check your child's cubby for extra clothing.


    Breakfast must end at 8:00 AM not at 8:15


    We need Clorox wipes, tissues, paper towel, and baby wipes.

    Review math and reading with your child. 

    School will be closed on Friday 13th

    Dear Parents:

    I would like to inform you that the student may dress up as their favorite Dr. Seuss character on Monday March 2nd. Also, the 8th grade will be having a bake sale, so bring in a dollar to buy bake goods.

    Re-registration for your child is before April 15th. Parents will save 100.00 by registering before the 15th of April. If you have any questions call the school office.

    Graduation picture will be on May 6th, 2020.
