Dear Parents;

I will  like to inform you that I will be contacting  parents this week. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Also,   you could  pick up your child's package at the school office from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. These are activities will be for your child to work at home. The addition booklets will be use for homework or summer activities. As you may know school will en on June 20th, 2020.

Also, I would like to inform the parents that I have been making phone call again to find out how the family is doing, and to help you with your concerns about your child's work. Zoom lessons May 12th at 11:30 AM, May 13th 11:00 AM, May 14th, at 11:30 AM, 15th at 11:30 AM. I will called parents according  to the group for the Zoom Lessons.

Strategies:
  • Tell your child how wonderfully made  by God he/she is.
  • Then  discuss things we need to do to take care of ourselves.
  • Then ask your child to listen carefully to the things they need to do to take care of themselves.

  • Then ask the children the following question based on video: How can we take care of ourselves? Can you model ways we can take care ourselves? What would happen if you do not take care of yourself?
  • Finally summarize what we learned. 

Reading:

Recalling Details

Aim: The children will listen to recall details.

Vocabulary Words: fell, wall, together, egg

Strategies:
  • First,  tell your child how important it is to listen carefully as they are being read.
  • Then tell them that you are going to read a called rhyme "Humpty Dumpty.

  • Then ask: Where was Humpty sitting? What happened to him? Who tried to put him together again?
  • Then point out that they could not have answered  the questions if they have not listed carefully, and that we learn many things by listening.
  • Then tell your child that your are going to play a describing game. Describe something in the room.
  • Then encourage the child to listen carefully to all of the little pieces of information I give.
  • Then give location, color, and its shape.
  • Then let your child guess what I am describing.
  • Then continue with the game with other objects.

Homework: Write the letters W w and X x in Notebook # X each.

Math:


Explore Capacity

Aim: Explore and compare capacity by filling and measuring containers: determine which container holds more and which holds less.

Vocabulary Words: more, least, capacity

Strategies:
  • First, explain to your child that he/she is going to learn about capacity, and explain that capacity is how much a container hold inside.
  • Then display two containers one tall and one short.
  • Then  pour water on the containers.
  • Ask: Which container I am able to put more water? Which one holds less?
  • Then explain that the amount water you  put in the containers is called capacity.
  • Then pour rice or any seeds or liquids in the tall container , or glass, then have another volunteer pour the same  in low  bowl or glass.
  • Then ask your child to determine which one holds more.
  • Summarize what we learned.

Science:

Insects

Aim: The children will learn to identify insects.

Vocabulary Words: catch, ant, bee, caterpillar, butterfly, dragonfly, fly, grasshopper

Strategies

  • First, tell your child that insects have three body parts, six legs, and two antennas.
  • Then tell your child that there good insects and bad insects.

The children were divide into four groups. I will let you know your child's group, and when to log into Zoom.

  • Then ask: What letters are these?(uppercase X and lowercase x) What kind lines do we use to write them? What sound does the letters X and x make? What words in the video have the the X x in? Can you use a words with X x in a sentence?
  • Then ask your child to use words with X x  in sentences.
  • Explain that we slant right from top bottom, and slant left from top to bottom.
  • Then model writing X and x. 
  • Then have your child write uppercase X and lowercase x.
  • Then have your child practice forming X x in the Notebook 3 X each.

Math:

Explore Nonstandard Measurement

Aim: The children will learn to measure and compare the length of classroom objects.

Vocabulary Words: longer, shorter, measure, length, unit

Strategies:
  • First, will explain to your child that when we measure length we want to find how long or short an object is.
  • Then show him/her an object. Then tell your child that you want o find out the length of the object.
  • Then ask your child where should I start measuring the object  from. (From the beginning of the object on the left side to the end of the object on the right side.
  • Then ask your child to model measuring the object length using any small objects you have available .
  • Then emphasize that the edge of the first object  should line up with the edge of the object and should touch.
  • Then explain  that we can use many things to measure objects, such as paper clip, snap cubes, feet, hands, or whole body.
  • Then have your child measure other object using different units of measurements> Example: paper clip, beans, or crayons.
  • then have your child compare the length of the two objects they measured.
  • Then ask: Which object is the longest? Which object is the shortest? What unit of measurement you use?

Aim: The children will demonstrate things we should do for our moms.

  • First, tell your child that in the month of May we celebrate a very special, and that day is Mother's Day.

  • First talk to how Jesus died in a cross.
  • Then  explain to your child that the cross is a sign of God's love for us. He gave us Jesus who died for us in the cross as a sign of his love for us.
  • Then ask the children: Who do you belong to? How would you show others that God loves them too? How do you feel belonging to God?
  • Then use  distribute string, pop-sicle sticks, cereal, or what ever you can find.
  • Then have the children form a cross, glue, and decorate the cross.

Reading

 Letters W w

Aim: The children will lean to write the letters W and w.

Vocabulary Words: wagon, watch, water, wand, wasp, web, well, wolf, worm

Strategies:
  • First, ask your child to identify words with the letter/sound /w/.
  • Then ask your to say a sentence with each word.
  • Then distribute p. 60 from Handwriting Book.
  • Then demonstrate how to form W.
  • Explain that we slant right down , then left slant up, then slant right down, finally slant left up.
  • Then I will ask the children to form W.
  • Then I will ask: What letters are these? What sound they make? What  words with initial /w/? Do we use curve lines or straight lines when we write W and w?
  • I will ask the children to practice writing w and w in activity P. 60.

Math: 

Explore Measurement

Aim: The children will learn to measure objects.

Vocabulary Words: longer, shorter, measure, length

Strategies:
  • I will explain to your child that when we measure length we want to find how long or short an object is.
  • I show a rectangular object. Then tell your child that you want to find out the length of the of object.
  • Then I will model how to measure the object using string.
  • Then emphasize that the edge of the  object should line up with the edge of the string and should touch.
  • Then have your child do the same.
  • Then  distribute snap cubes, pencil, and paper clip to your child.
  • Have your child measure the pencil and a paper clip using strings.
  • Then assist your child with measuring the pencil.
  • Have the children answer the following questions: From where do we begin measuring the object? Which ones is longest? which one is shortest? What did you do to find out? (measure the object)
  • Repeat Activity with different home objects.

Story Time: 
 A Bug Hunt by Tom Story

Aim: The children will learn about the different bugs you can find in a garden.

Vocabulary Word: worm, wiggly, catch, chat, catcher

Strategies:
  • First ask your child about the different bugs the have learned about.
  • Then tell your child that hey are going to listen to a story about a little girl who goes hunting for bugs.

Math:


Exploring Measurement

Aim: The children will explore the concept of length.

Vocabulary Words: longer, shorter, length, measure

Strategies:
  • First display a variety of objects that have different length, such as a ribbon, and eraser, a piece of paper, crayons, and a book.
  • Then  explain to your child that we are going learn about length (long and short).
  • Have the children describe the shapes of these objects.
  • Then explain to you child that when we can find the length of something by find out how long it is.
  • Then discuss ways we can measure to find out how long it is. (using our hands, beans, paper clips, snap cubes, strings, or any other objects.)
  • Then demonstrate measuring objects using a piece of string.
  • Then  show that the beginning of the string  must be held at the edge of the object.
  • Then demonstrate to your child how to extend the string in a straight line across the object.
  • Then encourage the children to use string to measure various classroom objects and compare the different length.
  • Then ask: What are you doing? Where do start measure measuring the object? Which object is the longest? Which object is the shortest? How do you know?
  • Finally, repeat activity with different classroom object.

Social Studies:


 Aim:The children will learn to obtain information about a topic using a variety of visual source.

Vocabulary Words: recycle, resource, conserve

Strategies:

  • Then read the tittle of of the poem "I'm Glad the Sky is Painted Blue."
  • Then tell your that the poem describes what the writer likes about Earth.
  • then ask your child to look a the art and name things the writer might like.
  • Then I will remind the children that poems often has rhyming words. Then I will explain that some poems also use words in special ways to help create pictures in a reader's mind.
  • I will invite your child to listen as you read the poem. Have them listen for special ways  the writer uses the words to help readers picture Earth.
  • Then I will ask the following questions: What does the writer means by saying "I am glad the sky is painted blue"?  What does the writer says is painted green? The writer compares the sky, Earth and air to a sandwich. Why?

Story Time: Red Wagon by Renata Liwska

Aim: The children will learn to help with chores at home. 

Vocabulary Words: chores, wagon, hill, market, vegetables

Strategies:
  • First, tell your child that helping at home is part of families chore, and that when help with chores the family has more time to spend together.

  • Then ask your child: What did Lucy get? What Color was the wagon? What did her mom ask her to do? How did she feel about that? What happened on her way to the market?
