Composing and Decomposing Shapes
We learned how to create more complex shapes out of simpler ones with paper and blocks. We also took a little time to use our imaginations and build things.
Halloween Party
Halloween is that time of year where we get to dress up and pretend to be someone else for a while day. We dressed up as everything from fairies to superheroes and had a great party! And of course, no Halloween party would be complete without candy and a costume contest!
Community Helpers
We got to dress up as our favorite community helpers: firefighters, nurses, mailmen, pilots, doctors, policemen, and others. We learned what these people do on a daily basis and how they help others in our community.

Dear Parents,
Below are this week's lesson plans. This week is a busy week. The whole week the school will have a book fair. I will be available to make book suggestions. Usually books costs minimally $5 each.
There will be a Halloween parade for students in grades Pre-K and Kindergarten beginning 8:30 AM on Friday October 31st. Parents are invited for the parade. After the parade, our class will have a party. If you have not done so yet, please bring in $5 for your child for the party. Also, please bring in a bag of candy or juice. The candy should be soft and individually wrapped. Party is only for the children. There is no gym this Friday.
Finally, review homework with your child every day. Teach your child to put their coats on. Practice writing the letters Aa through Dd. Some parents are frustrated with the difficulty of learning to write. This takes time and be patient with your child. If you need tips or suggestions on helping them to write, please see me in the mornings.

First Day of School 2014-2015
The First Day
I gave you a little wink and smile
As you entered my room today.
For I know how hard it is to leave
And know your children must stay.
You've been with them for many years now
And have been a loving guide.
But now, alas, the time has come
To leave them at my side.
Just know that as you drive away
And tears down your cheeks may flow.
I'll love them as I would my own
And help them learn and grow.
For as a parent, I too know
How quickly the years do pass.
And that one day, it was my turn
To take my child to class.
So please put your mind at ease
And cry those tears no more.
For I will love them and take them in
When you leave them at my door.
- paraphrased from the original "The First Day" poem
Please see my letter below, which includes a list of supplies.

2/17/14 - 2/21/14
Dear Parents,
Below are this week's lesson plans.
Please note because of last week's snow storm, the Valentine's Day party and bake sale are canceled. I will send home the goodie bags prepared for the children this week. For those who brought in $5 for the party, that money will be saved for a later party this year.
This Friday will be a full day; there will not be an early dismissal. The letter of the week is the letter "Ll". Please review the letter and its sound with your children. Review numbers 0 through 10. This week we will work on which groups have more or fewer.
Finally, the snow days will be made up this year. Please check the calendars sent home regarding these changes as well as the school's blog.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Fundora

Dear Parents,
Below are this week's lesson plans.
Beginning Monday, February 3rd re-registration forms for the 2014-2015 school year will be available in the tuition office. The re-registration form needs to be filled out in the office and SMART tuition will then bill you the re-registration fee of $100.00. The tuition rate for the 2014-2015 will not be determined until the first week of March after the Board of Directors has met regarding the school budget. Mr. Woods will keep parents informed when he is notified. Re-Registration forms are due by February 28th. If your child is not returning please let Mrs. Resto know so that we will inform SMART Tuition.
Also on Monday, February 3rd, there is a prayer service at 2:00 PM wherein students throats will be blessed. Parents are welcome to attend.
On Thursday, February 6th, Sister June Clare Tracy, OP the regional superintendent will be here to sit in classrooms, speak to teachers and staff and a small parent group. Students who are usually late should try and make it to school on time so that they will not interrupt her classroom visitation by their late arrival.
Please review the letters A through J, numbers 0 through 10. Practice making groups of 0 through 10.
Gym on Friday, February 7th. Also, please bring a children's sized shoebox.
Finally, next week on Friday, February 14th, we will have a Valentine's Day party for the children only. Please bring in $5 and a bag of candy. More information on next week's blog.
